By living simple you will begin to make an impact on your health, your family's well being
and your local and global environment.

The problems in our environment, locally and globally, are so big that often when looking at the enormity of then, individuals just throw up their hands in defeat and say “I can’t do anything about it”.

This can’t be further than the truth. Not all of us are called to be eco warriors or to sign up at Green Peace or even take part in Whale Wars…but right at home, from our own backyard we can start to make a difference.

Here’s how!

Step #1 – Assess what is coming in and going out of your home.

This means to buy organic fair trade seasonal produce. Buy eco-friendly cleaning materials. Begin to recycle what you can before putting it in the trash can.

Step #2 – Use your car less. Stay home more.

Share lifts to and from work, bunch your errands together and stop retail therapy.

Step # 3 – Produce our own

Set up a vegetable garden. Learn to cook from scratch by making your own foods and mixes instead of buying convenience meals and premade foods.

Step # 4 – Campaign

You have buying power! If a product is unhealthy, has more than two wrappings, is imported when there is a local equivalent or anything similar, then write to the company and tell them your feelings. Do not buy these items…your money speaks to corporation louder than anything.

Step # 5 – Spread the word

Tell your friends and family what you are doing and why. Encourage them to embrace living simple and support their beginning steps.

Living simply does not always mean it’s the easier way to do things, but it definitely is the one thing that has far reaching effects on yourself, your family and your environment.
