Polar Bears and Global Warming

Polar Bear on Ice
Polar Bear

As the the planet continues to heat up polar bears and global warming is becoming a more pressing issue than ever before. However we must not only look at the polar bear but to the many other creatures who's habitat resides around one of the poles. While the average temperature in those areas continues to grow the ice caps and glaciers continue to melt. This weakens and downsizes the polar bear and other animals living environments more and more each year.

Furthermore the oil and gas industry is growing very rapidly throughout the north. The worlds need for oil only grows, forcing the polar bears natural habitat elsewhere. However there has been some progress made. As of last year the polar bear is now considered an "endangered species" which protects them by law in a variety of ways. What Can I do to Help?

- reduce personal energy use and promote the same within your community. Climate change is the primary reason for the state of the polar bear

- send a letter or email to your federal legislature or environmental representative. Urge them to not allow the spread of the oil and gas industry throughout the polar bears habitat

- tell someone! friends, family co-workers let people know of the danger the polar bear is in and encourage them to help do something about it.
